On April 15, 2021, the Independent Civilian Review of Missing Person Investigations in Toronto released its final Report. Judge Gloria Epstein was the Independent Reviewer. Mark Sandler, the firm’s senior partner was lead counsel to the Review. Three of the firm’s lawyers, partner Megan Schwartzentruber, associates Amanda Ross and Nazampal Jaswal and articling student Alefia Ghadiyali formed the Review’s legal team. The 1000 page Report contains 151 recommendations to bring about transformative change in how the Toronto Police Service conducts missing person investigations and interacts with Toronto’s LGBTQ2S+ and marginalized and vulnerable communities generally.
