Nazampal Jaswal received her Bachelor of Arts in international studies with a minor in philosophy from York University in 2014. She is a recipient of the Loran Award – a scholarship awarded to 36 students annually across Canada for character, service and leadership. During her studies Ms. Jaswal spent summers interning for Pivot Legal Society and a women’s rights organization in Nepal. Ms. Jaswal attended McGill University’s Faculty of Law where she completed her Bachelor of Common Law and Bachelor of Civil Law. While at McGill University Ms. Jaswal served as co-president of the Women of Colour Collective and was a senior editor for the McGill Journal of Sustainable Development Law. With a passion for criminal law, Ms. Jaswal volunteered for Innocence McGill and eventually served as a director.
Ms. Jaswal completed her articles at Cooper, Sandler, Shime & Bergman LLP in June 2019. She joined the firm as an associate lawyer as of June 25, 2019. Ms. Jaswal’s primary area of practice is criminal law. She represents clients on a variety of matters before the criminal courts, including charges of breach of recognizance, driving-related offences, assault, and weapons-related offences in addition to youth matters.
