Megan Schwartzentruber spoke this morning at the Ontario Bar Association’s Program entitled “Key Foundations of Aboriginal Law and Working with Indigenous Clients.” It was organized by the Aboriginal Law / Young Lawyers Division of the OBA and Megan’s topic was about Intersections between Aboriginal Law with Criminal Law.
This program provided an introductory overview of some key areas of Aboriginal Law and provided information on understanding cultural sensitivities, including how to practice in a trauma-informed way that promotes reconciliation. The speakers of this program hailed from across the province and provided practical advice and tips to lawyers on how to work with Indigenous clients in various areas of law including criminal law, family and child protection, wills and estates, commercial and environmental law.
