On March 12, 2016, University of Toronto Faculty of Law students Samuel Greene and Malini Vijaykumar finished in second place at the prestigious Sopinka Cup National Trial Advocacy Competition in Ottawa, Ontario. Mr. Greene and Ms. Vijaykumar were coached by Jonathan Shime and Megan Schwartzentruber of Cooper, Sandler, Shime & Bergman LLP. Before competing at the national tournament, Mr. Greene and Ms. Vijaykumar won first place in their regional competition, the Arnup Cup. They are both fabulous advocates and will be a tremendous asset to the Bar.

The Sopinka Cup is hosted by the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Advocates’ Society, and is one of Canada’s most prestigious bilingual moots. The tournament’s trophy is named in honour of the late Justice John Sopinka of the Supreme Court of Canada.
